Recovery Ministries at St. George's

St. George’s is privileged to host six different 12-step groups, providing safe and holy space for persons who are journeying toward recovery. Groups are invited to take part in worship services here, as they are led (Non-alcoholic wine is available at Eucharist.); special 12-step services can be arranged by request with our clergy.

AA – Alcoholics Anonymous

Alcoholics Anonymous is an international fellowship of men and women who have had a drinking problem. It is nonprofessional, self-supporting, multiracial, apolitical, and available almost everywhere. There are no age or education requirements. Membership is open to anyone who wants to do something about his or her drinking problem.

                Sundays – 7:00 p.m., Tuesdays – 11:30 a.m., Wednesdays – 7:00 p.m., Thursdays – 11:30 a.m., Saturdays – 11:30 a.m.

Al-Anon

Al-Anon members are people who have been affected by someone else’s drinking. They are parents, children, spouses, partners, brothers, sisters, other family members, friends, employers, employees, and coworkers of alcoholics. No matter what our specific experience has been we share a common bond: we feel our lives have been affected by someone else’s drinking.

                Sundays – 7:00 p.m.

ACA – Adult Children of Alcoholics

Adult Children of Alcoholics includes adults who grew up in alcoholic or dysfunctional homes and who exhibit identifiable traits that reveal past abuse or neglect. The group includes adults raised in homes without the presence of alcohol or drugs. These ACA members have the trademark presence of abuse, shame, and abandonment found in alcoholic homes.

                Tuesdays – 6:30 p.m., Wednesdays – 7:00 p.m., Saturdays – 11:00 a.m.

OA – Overeaters Anonymous

Overeaters Anonymous is a Fellowship of individuals who, through shared experience, strength, and hope, are recovering from compulsive overeating. We welcome everyone who wants to stop eating compulsively. There are no dues or fees for members; we are self-supporting through our own contributions, neither soliciting nor accepting outside donations. OA is not affiliated with any public or private organization, political movement, ideology, or religious doctrine; we take no position on outside issues. Our primary purpose is to abstain from compulsive eating and compulsive food behaviors and to carry the message of recovery through the Twelve Steps of OA to those who still suffer.

                Mondays – 5:30 p.m., Thursdays – 9:00 a.m.

SA

SA is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength, and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop lusting and become sexually sober. There are no dues or fees for SA membership, we are self-supporting through our own contributions. SA is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization, or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy; neither endorses nor opposes any causes.  Our primary purpose is to stay sexually sober and help others to achieve sexual sobriety.  SA is a recovery program based on the principles of Alcoholics Anonymous and received permission from AA to use its Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions in 1979.

Wednesdays – 12:00 noon

S-Anon

The S-Anon Family Groups are a fellowship of the relatives and friends of sexually addicted people who share their experience, strength and hope in order to solve their common problems. Our program of recovery is adapted from Alcoholics Anonymous and is based on the Twelve Steps and the Twelve Traditions of Alcoholics Anonymous. S-Anon’s Twelve Concepts of Service provide guidance in serving each other in our business matters. There are no dues or fees for S-Anon membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions.

                Fridays – 9:30 a.m.

GA – Gamblers Anonymous

Gamblers Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from a gambling problem. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop gambling. Our primary purpose is to stop gambling and to help other compulsive gamblers do the same.

                Saturdays – 2:00 p.m.
