Welcome fellow newcomers,

Having just arrived at St. George’s recently myself, I am so glad you have found your way here as well. The people of this community strive, and succeed, at offering warm welcome to folks seeking a new church home or those only stopping through on their journey.

Our worship services are drawn from the Book of Common Prayer and are fully printed each week in our bulletin, making engagement and participation in our liturgy as simple as turning the page. If you have any questions, ask someone nearby and they are sure to be able to help or direct you to someone who can. Our space is fully accessible but if you need any additional help please let one of our greeters or ushers know.

There are so many ways to be involved, to feed and be fed here at St. George’s. Our shared life of worship is at the heart of our community and parishioners are invited to participate in shaping the service through work with the Flower Guild, Altar Guild, acolytes, Lay Eucharistic Ministers, ushers or lectors. A wellspring of musical talent winds its way throughout this congregation and we are blessed in various services by the gifts of our Coventry Choir, the wind and brass ensemble, Sanctifica, our guitar/folk ensemble, Exultemus!, and other special offerings from talented musicians.

Opportunities to feed the community around us exist through a wide variety of outreach offerings such as More Than a Meal, Coats and Food boxes for families at Emmanuel Center, Lenten food drive, and our work with Room in the Inn. St. George’s is engaged in an ongoing commitment to these and other ministry partners throughout the Memphis area to assist in the construction of God’s Kingdom. Our Caring Roundtable aims to support those in our own community who are suffering from illness or isolation while our Knitting Ministry puts together prayer shawls so that they may be surrounded by the care and concern of their church family.

Our Christian Formation offerings create opportunities for us to be fed by the wisdom of those gathered and the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Bible Studies for adults are offered at different times through the week to make them available for all. Our Children and Families team offers formation for our youngest on Sunday mornings and invites our children and youth to gather Sunday afternoons for fellowship and formation.

These are only some of the activities happening all the time at St. George’s and only the ones that are happening right now! Our community is growing, excited about an exploration of what new ministries we might develop, and what new fellowship can be born in our midst or new outreach offering might spring forth. So, come and see what God is calling you and us to together! Thank you for coming to see St. George’s and, as one parishioner told me on my very first Sunday here, “Welcome home.”

Peace,
Chris+
