dorothy-sanders-wellsThe Rev. Dorothy Sanders Wells, Rector at Saint George's Episcopal Church

A native of Mobile, Alabama, The Rev. Dorothy Sanders Wells came to Memphis when she began her undergraduate studies at Rhodes College, and she has made Memphis her home since that time. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Vocal Performance from Rhodes, her Juris Doctor degree from the Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law at the University of Memphis, and her Master of Divinity degree from Memphis Theological Seminary. She is a candidate for the Doctor of Ministry degree from Candler School of Theology at Emory University.

A practicing attorney in Memphis for nearly 18 years before her ordination as a priest, Dorothy began her legal career with the former Waring Cox firm, and spent most of her legal career with FedEx Corporation, where she was responsible for the design and compliance of employee benefits plans maintained by the FedEx companies. After her ordination, Dorothy previously served as a Curate at the Church of the Holy Apostles.

Dorothy loves the Memphis area and enjoys being involved in community organizations. She is of Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of Metropolitan Inter-faith Association (MIFA), and a member of the Board of Directors of Church Health. She previously served on the Board of Trustees of St. Mary’s Episcopal School, the Alumni Executive Board of Rhodes College, and the Boards of Directors of the Margaret Hyde Council of Rhodes College and of Memphis Area Legal Services, Inc.

Dorothy also serves the Episcopal Diocese of West Tennessee as its Secretary, and is a member of the Standing Committee. She has served as a member of and Secretary to The Bishop and Council, and as Chaplain to the Episcopal Church Women. Eileen Fields, Administrator for Operations & Facilities

eileen-fieldsEileen came to St. George's in 2004, and knows the ins and outs of the life of the parish better than most anyone else. As Administrator for Operations and Facilities, Eileen's time is almost totally taken up with the finances of the parish, records management, and building maintenance and operations (she is staff to the Buildings and Grounds Committee, as well as numerous other of our infrastructure committees). In light of recent changes, she is also taking back responsibility for maintaining our calendar (no small order).

She is a long-time member of the American Guild of Organists, and has held several offices with the Guild. In addition, Angela is a member of the Organ Historical Society and the Association of Anglican Musicians.
