Children's Choirs Starting up for Fall!
Children's choirs are starting again at St. George's. I encourage you to have your children be a part of this ministry. Here are the opportunities:
The Canterbury Choir includes boys and girls, 3rd-8th grades.
Rehearsals are on Wednesdays from 5:30-6:30 pm. This choir sings once or twice per month in worship services, and joins the Coventry Choir occasionally. Using principles of the Royal School of Church Music (RSCM), musicianship is taught, and the choristers are strongly encouraged during these years to become strong and effective worship leaders.
The St. Cecilia Choir includes boys and girls, in kindergarten through 2nd grade.
Rehearsals are on Wednesdays from 5:30-6:15 pm. This choir sings occasionally in worship services, and joins the Canterbury Choir for special occasions, such as the Christmas Pageant. Singers are taught age-appropriate music and to assume an active role in worship.
You may ask, "Why should you have your child sing in a choir?"
- Children's choirs give children an excellent opportunity to serve their church and share their gifts with all of the people of God.
- The choir provides opportunities to build Christian character.
- When children sing Scripture they remember and carry it with them for a lifetime.
- Children who participate in choirs are more self-confident, their memory skills improve, and emotional engagement and management is increased.
